[Forum] RE: Interrupted dialogue with initials
Here's another option. Initials require no periods when someone has come to be known by initials alone (JFK, LBJ, etc.). Mary Jane is MJ. However, formal manuscripts probably need the periods.

[Forum] RE: Drop cap with initials?
I'd say either keep them both or drop them both. There is some support for dropping them both here. http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/16/ch10/ch10_sec004.html Use periods for initials standing for given names: E. B. White; do not use periods for an entire name replaced by initials: JFK.

Do we put one space after a persons first and middle initials (as exampled below) when a surname follows? H. G. Swanson J. D. Pedersen But if we have just three initials (say, F.D.R.), we'd omit the spaces, correct? And what about a company name--no spaces between the the "J." and the "C,

[Forum] RE: No First Name

[Forum] Spaces in Company's Name
Our employees in our company P.D. Quick & Co. (fictitious name) have always, but never formally, omitted the space between the two initials. We have a new hire who has been adding a space between the initials. The name is not trademarked but our company logo is. I haven't found any rules regardin

[Forum] Interrupted dialogue with initials
As I understand it, you do not "double" the period when ending a sentence with a person's initials: e.g., If you want to find out who caused the problem, you'll have to speak to A.D. For a fiction manuscript, if the speaker trails off at the end of dialogue ending with a person's initials, how wo

[Forum] RE: Initials for name
You're correct. Also see [url=http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/16/ch10/ch10_sec012.html]CMOS 10.12: Initials in personal names[/url]. More examples are in [url=http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/16/ch08/ch08_sec004.html]CMOS 8.4[/url].
