Q. In a bibliography, how do you cite a decades-old document kept in hard copy by an individual? Is it “From the personal archives of . . .”?

A. Yes, that would work. Though assuming the document you’re citing remains with the individual in question, we would suggest replacing “From” with “In.” See also CMOS 14.129.
