[Forum] RE: Punctuation Relative to Scare Quotes
I thought I would resuscitate this thread to see if anyone has any further thoughts on this issue. Does anyone else think that a period after a single word in scare quotes looks odd? A ball hit between outfielders is known as a "gapper."

[Forum] RE: scare quotes
Does the author mean yellow? It's a little odd. Since my smiley faces are just characters :-) And the ones my phone gives me are an ugly green. Perhaps s/he means the ones gmail and facebook both pop up with. But you might tell your author that smiley faces are not universally one color or anoth

[Forum] RE: Hyphens or Quotes for this Phrase?
Chuckle. Scare quotes have that effect upon a person.
