Another hyphen question: "twentieth century America" needs to be "twentieth-century America," right? I know that we don't hyphenate when there is an -ly adverb ("happily married couple"), but just wondered if there were any other exceptions, like maybe ordinals. Okay, time for more coff

A "spot of" anything seems very early-twentieth-century British to me. For a fantasy novel set in the 1400s, it seems anachronistic . . .

I've only seen the latter two. Perhaps Century XX could be used in some very special contexts, but aside from a cheesy movie title or something, it's hard to think of when that might be the case. Welcome to the forum!
