[Forum] RE: Italic versus roman in name plurals?
I suggest CMOS 7.12, Plural form of italicized words. According to that section of the guide, you should write Iowas or rephrase it.

[Forum] RE: Possessive in the Name of a Business
"If italicized terms—names of newspapers, titles of books, and the like—are used in the plural, the s is normally set in roman." It's not about how to make it plural. It's about whether the plural ending should also be in italics. This is the main point of the section.

[Forum] RE: Section 7.12: Plural form of italicized words
The words you mentioned are being used as nouns (not words as word) -- there's no reason to italicize them. There were a lot of dos and don'ts in her message. She always includes many thank-yous in her conversation. Cleaning the house is definitely among my to-dos.

[Forum] Italic versus roman in name plurals?
In ship class names, when referring to multiple vessels of the same class, should the plural -s be italicized? E.g., "Iowas" for the last class of American battleships. Or should it be "Iowas"?

[Forum] RE: "ex post" - italics or not
In the examples M-W Unabridged gives, the terms are juxtaposed and not italicized. I believe they are both ("ex post" and "ex ante") considered integrated into standard English and italicizing them is unnecessary. Also, in your example, I wouldn't set "ex post" off with commas.

[Forum] Italicize social media?
If one mentions names of social media sites in text, such as Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, should they be italicized?

[Forum] RE: Question mark after foreign word
Sometimes I live dangerously and just throw the rule book out the window. I like the look of the italicized question mark.

[Forum] RE: Titles of short films
I concur with Lingordon -- a film is a film. A short book would still be italicized too; I don't believe the length would make any difference.

[Forum] RE: Titles of movies in dialog
They should be italicized. See CMOS 8.185: Titles of movies.

[Forum] RE: Restaurant names
I've never seen the name of restaurants in quotation marks or italicized in any reputable, well-edited publication. I'd keep it roman, no quotation marks.
