[Forum] RE: reveille
M-W has "reveille" lowercase in both Unabridged and Collegiate. It doesn't list "last post." I would imagine it should be lowercase as well, even though many sites via a Google search have it uppercase. The top listing (which is what I guess is via Google dictionary) has it lowercase, and One Look h

CMOS uses Neoplatonism as an example in their hyphenation guide (7.89), under "words formed with prefixes". Under the prefix neo, it also says ([i]neo [/i]lowercase or capital and hyphenated as in dictionary; lowercase and hyphenate if not in dictionary) I'm editing something that refers to

[Forum] RE: Capitalization
All of these should be lowercase. Just check Webster's Collegiate when you have a question about whether or not to cap a term. If it's capped in M-W, it should usually be capped. If it's lowercase, go with lowercase. There's no reason to cap shea nut, shea butter, or aloe vera. Welcome to the forum

[Forum] RE: "from the introduction" or "from the Introduction"?
I'd probably lowercase it too. Not actually sure if CMOS has the same guideline as APA, but in APA we lowercase common parts of a manuscript (e.g., "chapter 3" as Pixna stated) [i]but [/i]we capitalize the names of sections when referred to as sections (e.g., the Method section). Hello, With the holidays rapidly approaching, would you lowercase the words "happy," "merry," etc., below? Have a happy Thanksgiving! (Lowercase "happy"?) Have a happy anniversary! (Lowercase "happy" and "anniversary"?) Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year! (Lowercase "merry" an

[Forum] RE: Capitalization - Sir / Ma'am
M-W (the expert I turn to in cases like this) has all of them lowercase when used generically (not as a title). I'd keep them lowercase.

[Forum] RE: Alcohol and capitalisation
Do you have recommendation for sangria? My thought is lowercase as it is not named for any proper noun. It is lowercase in Webster's as well.

[Forum] RE: Nouns (lowercase?) followed by numbers
Thank you. So CMOS would use numerals after these words? [i]Every[/i] common noun preceded by a numeral should be lowercase per Chicago?

[Forum] RE: fruit
I found the following link where "Saskatoon" is lowercase: http://www.gov.mb.ca/agriculture/crops/fruit/bld01s00.html I follow CMOS's "down" style for nearly all foods in the books I edit. Unless the berries come directly from Saskatchewan and are called "Saskatchewan berries" (in which case I
