Citing forthcoming publications
How do you cite more than one forthcoming publications by the same author? I've used (Smith, forthcoming-a), but not sure if that's how it should be. Using parentheses would look awkward.
I'm assuming that I should use forthcoming for publications that are not published, even when there is a pro |

RE: Anticipated publication date
Hi, and welcome to the CMOS forum.
I think this article has some good suggestions: How to Handle "In Process" Work.

RE: Should I Italicize the Title of a Hypothetical Book?

RE: Another hyphen question
Pixna, you introduced a whole new variable. I decided to leave the wording as is (which is usually my approach when a definite solution is not forthcoming). My head hurts. |

RE: Either you or I is / am / are crazy
I'm admittedly very poor at diagramming sentences and at describing my rationale for grammatical decisions, so please forgive my forthcoming shoddy attempt at doing so.
The way I see it, "It is you" is the clause, and "who is crazy" modifies "you." Does that make sense? |

RE: ISBN
It is possible to have one 10-digit ISBN and one 13-digit one, but it is unlikely for a forthcoming book (just ones previously published). My guess is that the difference is due to typos on the cover and copyright page. |

RE: Presentations in author-date style
I'm not sure what the normal format for the citation of a presentation would be, but if it would include a date, could you replace the date with "Forthcoming"? See CMOS 15.45. |

RE: scale numbers
Thank you for your reply. Yes, until further edification is forthcoming, I followed the general rule of spelling out all whole numbers so I used numerals for only the 6.5. It is, however, all in quoted dialogue, but as mentioned, the six point five was not working for me. But I was entertained by yo |

RE: dialog as subject in sentence
"Was all he said" is not technically a dialogue tag, so the comma wouldn't be necessary. If it was
"Over there," he said.
you would want the comma. "Was all he said" is a little awkward wording. I'd change it up to make it more interesting:
"Over there," he said curtly.
